Privacy Policy

Sweep · Last updated July 3, 2026

Sweep is a private, on-device storage cleaner for iPhone. We built Sweep on a simple principle: your photos are yours, and they should never have to leave your device for you to clean up your storage.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Sweep accesses, how it is used, and what choices you have. Please read it carefully. If you have questions, the Contact section at the end explains how to reach us.

Information We Collect

Sweep does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to external servers. There is no account, no sign-in, and no backend. All processing happens entirely on your iPhone.

The only data Sweep accesses is your photo library, and it does so exclusively on-device using Apple's PhotoKit framework. Specifically, Sweep reads metadata and image data to identify large videos, screenshots, screen recordings, similar or burst photos, and duplicates. This data is analyzed locally and immediately discarded after the scan — nothing is written to disk outside of your Photos library itself.

How We Use Information

Sweep uses access to your photo library for one purpose only: to show you how much storage space you can reclaim and to carry out deletions you explicitly approve. Sweep does not use your photos for advertising, analytics, machine learning training, or any purpose beyond the core cleanup function described above.

Device Permissions And Sensitive Data

Sweep requests the following iOS permissions:

  • Photo Library Read Access (NSPhotoLibraryUsageDescription): Required to scan your camera roll for large files, screenshots, and duplicates. Your photos are analyzed on-device and never uploaded.
  • Photo Library Write Access (NSPhotoLibraryAddUsageDescription): Required to delete items you select and confirm. Nothing is removed without your explicit approval.

How We Share Information

Sweep does not share any information with third parties. There are no analytics providers, advertising networks, data brokers, or cloud services integrated into Sweep. Because no data leaves your device, there is nothing to share.

Data Retention

Sweep stores no user data on our servers because no data is ever sent to our servers. Any scan results displayed within the app are held temporarily in device memory and cleared when you close or reset the app.

Items you delete through Sweep are moved to your iPhone's Recently Deleted album, where they remain recoverable for a period of time determined by Apple's Photos app. Sweep does not control this retention period.

Your Choices

You are in full control at all times. You may revoke Sweep's photo library access at any time by visiting Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos on your iPhone and changing Sweep's permission level. Revoking access will prevent Sweep from scanning your library but will not affect photos already in your library.

Because Sweep collects no personal data, there is no account to delete and no data to request or erase from our systems.

Children's Privacy

Sweep is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because Sweep collects no personal data from any user, no special risk is presented. If you believe a child has used Sweep in a way that raises a privacy concern, please contact us.
